Western Mass Summer Buzz
School is out, the sun is up, and summer is right around the corner! Come to Western Massachusetts this summer for the ultimate summer vacation fun. Bring your bike or rent one across the street from our Inn at Laughing Dog Bicycles. You can enjoy yourself in nature at a nearby state park or on the Norwottuck Trail for biking and hiking. If you need a break, head on over to one of Amherst’s museums, like the Emily Dickinson Museum, the Eric Carle Museum, or the Amherst College Museum of Natural History. After a long day of fun, settle down in one of the Inn on Boltwood’s cozy guest rooms to give yourself some rest before another busy day of adventures!

Hadley Asparagus
Come stay with us at the Inn on Boltwood to not only enjoy our beautiful New England style Inn but to relish in the wonder that is the world-famous Hadley Asparagus, also known as “Hadley Grass”. The asparagus grown here in the Pioneer Valley have been known to be a prized export served at restaurants in Paris, France, and Berlin, Germany. The Asparagus is available at the Amherst Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, 7:30 am to 1:30 pm, right at the doorstep of the Inn. After you visit the market, come back to the Inn on Boltwood, and cozy up at our fire pit and enjoy our fantastic locally sourced menu and creative signature cocktails. National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month
This June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month. Celebrate this month with a new set of recipes filled with colorful and tasty produce. Fruit and vegetables are great additions to a healthy diet, providing you with nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fiber. Blend all your favorite fruits and veggies together to make a yummy smoothie. Plant a garden of fruit trees or vegetable plants to create your very own supply of produce right in your backyard. Or, visit 30Boltwood to enjoy some of the season’s freshest produce.

National Ice Cream Month
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! This July is National Ice Cream Month. In 1984, July was established as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. There is only one way to celebrate – by enjoying some ice cream. Grab some friends and family and host your very own ice cream party out in the sun. Or spend some time in the kitchen to work on your own homemade batch of ice cream. Whatever the event, treat yourself to your favorite frozen treat and cool down with some delicious ice cream. 30Boltwood will feature our house-made ice creams bursting with the best of the summer fruit and berry harvest throughout the month. Some of our favorite flavors will include passion-peach, hazelnut, mango, cookies & cream, wild strawberry, and blook orange raspberry. Ice cream flavors change weekly.

Julia Child’s Birthday
Bonjour! On August 15, we celebrate the birthday of the American cooking teacher, author, and television personality, Julia Child. She is most notable for popularizing French cuisine to the American audience through her debut cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” and her TV shows such as “The French Cook.” Her book and many TV shows helped redefine the image of French cuisine as more approachable while showcasing her love and passion for good food and cooking. Remember the culinary icon with one of her many recipes, from Boeuf Bourguignon to Vichyssoises (one of Julia’s favorites!). We will take August 15 to celebrate Julia Child by bringing the taste of France right to our kitchen as Chef Josean Jimenez will feature his favorite Julia Childs-inspired French dish throughout the birthday week.
