Winterfest Amherst 2018 – Eight Days of Winter Celebrations

The first snowflakes have fallen, which signals the much-anticipated annual winter celebration known as Winterfest Amherst. After 10 years of producing a day-long event to bring the community together to celebrate snow, ice, and cold temperatures, the event returns bigger and better than ever in 2018. Expanded to a full week, from February 3rd through February 10th, WinterFest 2018 features 45 events taking place at 25 different venues across the Town of Amherst.

Among the first night of kick-off events on February 3rd is the Luminaria on the Town Common beginning at 5 pm, sponsored by the Amherst Business Improvement District. The next day will feature a jazz concert at Cushman Market & Café at 11 am and sledding at Cherry Hill at Noon. Other events scheduled throughout the week include a gingerbread house decorating contest, crafting, animal visits, and athletic contests at Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The event is capped by a Grand Finale on February 10th at Cherry Hill Golf Course, sponsored by The Amherst Leisure Services and Friends of Amherst Recreation. Activities include a chili cook-off and fireworks display.

Berkshire Brewing Company has once again crafted a special brew to mark the annual event. Their WinterFest Ale provides the perfect pairing to Chef Doubleday’s thoughtful menu selections and will be featured on tap throughout the week.
